For ethical reasons, and to avoid any possible conflicts of interest, we avoid the questionable, yet commonplace practice of appraising our own merchandise.
It is important that you always get an independent appraisal, and not one executed by the actual seller.
We define "Independent Appraiser" as a GIA trained gemologist / appraiser who neither buys nor sells gems
or jewelry, and who does not work on the premises of, or work for a seller of gems or jewelry.
There are not many truly independent appraisers around, but a list can be supplied to you upon request.
